Saini Dynasty and History.

This section unravels the past glory of the  Saini Dynasty . It traces the origins and roots of the clan. Most of the data gathered is based on the works of scholars and researchers. We are immensely thankful to them. It would be an injustice  not to specially mention Brigadier Dilbagh Singh (Redt.), for his painstaking contribution, without which this section may not see light.

Sainis, an ancient Vedic Kshatriya tribe) are now a farming caste. Like other farming castes, generally avoid priestly duties or run shops or do anything but farming, the noblest and first profession of mankind. they claim descent from RAJAN SAINI (called 'SINI in texts) and his grandson SATYAKI of the Mahabharata fame and founded SAINI Vamsh of the Sura-Sena which is one of the eleven Vamshas of Krishna and one of the tribes of the Yadavas.

The Yadavas descended from Prince Yadu, the eldest son of Chandervamshi Kshatriya 6th Aryan King YAYATI. Yayati was the first Aryan Samrat who as head of Devas, warred against the Asuras. He conquered Sapta-Sindhu and divided it amonst his five sons. Yadu got the western region and Puru was placed on the seat of Saraswati. The descendants of Avamitra, the youngest son of Vrsihni are called Sainyas through his son Saini. Satyaki and Yuyudhana are born from this family.

Due to different versions in the  closing many other Yadu tribes also claim to be Sainis or connected with sainis, though Sainis were only one family out of many of the Vrishnis and Yadava stock. Vrishnis were not only excellent Kshatriyas but also sacred. They were cursed to be kingless and used the title of Rajan but rarely Raja. Yadu too had a curse for rebelling against his father Yayati. Vedic period ends here and Kali age commences.

If the Purans are not generally true, then Vedic history is not true either as the Purans alone and not Vedas give full Vedic history.

Many of the Yadu tribes also claim descent from Krisha-Satyaki famiilies. They are widely dispersed majority in few pockets; like Saini who are spread along the Shivalik foothills from Gurdaspur on Ravi to Haridwar on the Ganga, reduced to village aristocrats, all became political non-entities on forced migration to poor lands and continuous subjugation for 800 years from 200 B.C. - 600 AD under Saka-Kushan-Gurjara rule, perhaps like other Vedic tribes.

Political decline and fall from owners of land as Kshatriya to profession of farming caused economic and educational backwardness amongst all Kshatriyas over the ages. Dispersed in four zones in many districts, Punjabi Sainis are divided by three rivers and are further divided as Sikh and Hindu. Increasing population, where every one married and produced indiscriminately, inbreeding in small population in small pockets, poor soil,  wet climate and underfeeding deteriorated the stock; where chiefs, elite families and good stock often translocated and merged with ruling or conquering tribes.

Defeat, persecution, division, translocation, absorption and annihilation led to minoritysm. Minoritysm led to defeatism. They were out-numbered in Punjab by Rajputs and Jats. At a time where might and number of swords, Minorities became voiceless by merger of their own stock with foreigners or major tribes. Clans split, joining as Rajput, other as Jat under new name or old names. The rise, fall and extinguishing of many dynasties is linked with invaders, that one has to sift through history to know real traitors and the real heroes.

Converts to Islam  amongst  the Sainis were unheard of, unlike other farming North Indian tribes causing further decline as Jazia and revenue-paying farming Hindus received no favour from Turko-Pathan Moslem kings during 800 years of rule, till recent times.

All invaders came in small numbers making alliances with conquered tribes and Vedic blood runs through most of North Indian tribes. All these tribes continuously fought with each other for supremacy, pushing and usurping each other's land and finally settled in villages as cultivators and herdsmen in areas once conquered by their ancestors in varying political-social layers upon each other. Sainis were pushed into Shivalik foothills.

Sainis would predominantly be of Vedic origin, not Scythians or of earlier darker races; having physique and culture like Dogras, living in adjoining hills.

Sura and Saini were cousins (Mahabharat) and joint rulers of dual republic of Andhaka-Vrishni group; the first ever know democracy in India. 'Sura-'Saini, 'Saini-Vasudeva were the first ever known dual republics with elected heads from amongst hereditary chief of clans, making a particular confederacy. the elected representatives could over-rule their elected combined Chief Krishna, who was given half the functional powers and control of eleven families of powerful Yadava confederacy.

'Sura and 'Saini as dual rulers gave name Sura-Sena to Mathura area. 'Sura was grandfather of Krishna and 'Saini was grandfather of Satyaki. These Rajas later adopted the title of Raja Sursen or Sura-Sena from the country they ruled.

L

After Mahabharata, Parikshat was made king of Hastinapur. Vajra, the grandson of  Krishna at Indraprastha. A grandson of Satyaki named Bhuti was made king of Saraswati. Andhaka's son was made king at Marttikavata near Mount Abu. Thus the princes of the Pandava-Krishna lines ruled North India, Sindh, Gujarat and the area North and West of Yamuna. They founded many republics like Pargiter, Bhargava and Jayaswal.

The famous Yaudheya republic had 5000 war elephants and 5000 aristocratic families, who were good agriculturist and good soldiers. their fame and power caused the retreat of Alexander from the Beas in 326 BC. Future wars led to the Sainis retreating into infertile foot hills from central regions of Punjab under pressure from Scthians. They have spread in a linear fashion across the rivers.

These republics can be called the fore runner of our present democracy. It covers the whole of India and every citizen has the power to vote. Thus for the first time, since thousands of years we are a big and free country, encompassing all classes and creeds. bards, bhats and priests always praise big Dhanis and Victors and denigrate the defeated or those who does not give Dan or favours other religions.
